Out of Zone Enrolments 2018

Sefton School is under an enrolment scheme that governs eligibility to enroll at Sefton School. 
The Board of Trustees is also able to accept a limited number of pupils who live outside the zone.  
For 2018, the Board has determined that it will accept up to three pupils at the New Entrant level.  
If you have a child who is turning 5 next year and you want them to attend Sefton School please ensure you have an enrolment form and a letter of application to the principal before the deadline outlined below.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is 3pm Tuesday 17 October 2017.  
If a ballot for out of zone places is required, it will be held on Wednesday 18th October 2017.  Parents will be informed of the outcome by 20th October 2017.

Applications from out of zone students will be processed in the following order of priority:
  • First priority will be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in an approved special programme. (This priority category is not applicable at Sefton School.)
  • Second priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
  • Third priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  • Fourth priority will be given to applicants who are children of former students
  • Fifth priority will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.
  • Sixth priority will be given to all other applicants.

Please read the next section detailing how to book your interview. Remember that this applies to all children in years 4-8, and the children in Kokara and Room 3 who have had the end of year anniversary of entering school this term.

 

To book a time for a reflection and goal setting conference please follow the following instructions:

Step 1. Enter your email address, your name and your child’s name. If you want to book for more than one student please select the appropriate number.

Step 2: Choose the teacher from the drop down menu.

Step 3: Choose the time you want.

Step 4: Confirm and finish.

You will receive an email confirming your choices.

 

If you need any assistance with this please ask your child’s teacher or contact the office. We will be able to log on and help you through this process.


Application for Out of Zone Enrolment

The Sefton School board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their sons and daughters at Sefton School. Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school 
Apply by returning an enrolment form to the Sefton School office. 

The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is 3pm Monday 19th June 2017. 
Students who live in the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school. 

The board has determined that up to four places at the New Entrant level only are likely to be available for out of zone students for Terms 3 and 4 2017. 
The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school's home zone. 

Applications from out of zone students will be processed in the following order of priority:

School Cross Country - Wed 31 May

Our school cross country is on Wednesday 31 May 
We are holding the event at 897 Marshmans Road, at the farm of Helen and Tim Molloy.  Many thanks to them for offering to host this for us.

On the day, we are going to have a slightly early morning tea, leave school between 10:15am and 10:30 am, and then travel up to the farm, aiming to begin races at approximately 11am.

Please remember to complete your online permission form sent home via email to you.

The Great Kiwi Maths, English and Science Competitions

This year the University of Canterbury is delighted to launch the great Kiwi English, Mathematics and Science competitions for primary, intermediate and secondary schools. The Kiwi competitions are written by New Zealand teachers for New Zealand students and are based on the New Zealand curriculum. The online competitions will be run in the last 2 weeks of Term 2. All participating students will be awarded a certificate and prizes will be awarded to top students in each year group. The cost for a student to participate is $8.50 per competition entered.

Sefton School is offering children in years 5-8 the opportunity to participate in this for 2017
Please see the below information and return the permission form with payment to the school office by the end of Term 1.
